Back when the car had to *travel* to make underside downforce. Too much travel and you're bouncing off the track. Too little and you're left behind with poor corner speed. So much cooler than these flat floors we have today.

Aah yes The best looking gen4 car Absolute peak right there

Yup. It’s not hard for the current networks to understand racing POV and showcase the configurations and banking of these racetracks. They’re too lazy to care about the importance of acoustics and track perception for the TV viewers.

Man I love hearing them drive of into the corner ❤️

2000s camera shot vibe🔥🔥🔥

And Cup suspensions that worked instead of complete rigidity

Miss the RPM.

@nascar_opinion Cars actually bouncing/moving over the bumps, the high RPMS, the speed. Actual racecars

And then paired with that shot in turn 3 where they go wide and then zoom in close on the car and slightly exaggerate the speed of the cars. Those were some cool shots

I desperately need NASCAR Classics to release a night race “Sights and Sounds” video from this era.

Am I wrong here? I feel like we don't see this low-angle view anywhere except the plate tracks anymore.

@KensethFan17_20 Where are you finding hd footage from the 06 race? Best video I can find on YouTube is not great footage

look at all that travel with the ride heights

god those dodge's looked great

Perfection

@AlextheAdm1ral The body travel 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨

Man, I miss when stock cars had body roll. Could actually *see* what the drivers were having to deal with. 🥲

This is all we want but they refuse to give it to us

Great patchwork Petty Enterprises.....🤦

I loved that shot! Saw the cars bounce around.

I loved watching those cars ride across those bumps.

Hey @nascaronprimee and @AlyMoran2 bring this view back!!

we need this again

I miss seeing the cars bounce and work like that.

Hauling ass down the backstretch

@grok when was this camera last used and why was it phased out?

SUSPENTION TRAVEL 😍😍😍

I fucking love this camera angle, probably the most underrated camera angle in NASCAR's history

This is awesome. Need more of this.

Meanwhile we get full laps now from a helicopter. Putrid stuff. Needs to go back to this.

Steel bodied low slung cars under the lights 😭

It's funny because at the time people thought this was a horrible racing product compared to "what it used to be."

This shot and the low pit wall camera angle at the Brickyard were two of the best angles in the sport that the broadcasts went away from for some reason. Gives the viewer a better feel for how fast the cars are actually going… basically it looks cool!

I’d argue the better one used to be the turn 2 transition from on top of the grandstands… it was just so smooth

Need it back.
