“You consider the political nature of art to be an intrinsic and inseparable aspect that can’t simply be removed on the whims of crybaby morons? Well, I’ll have you know, Possum Reviews disagrees with you!”

Implying that art is intrinsically and inseparable from politics is the most retarded refusal to accept objective reality you could possibly make and only proves how ideologically captured you are to accept absolutes in a reality of constant variance and random occurrence.

@SheevTalks labeling the recognition of these influences as absolutism misrepresents the argument. saying art is inseparable from politics does not mean every artwork is a manifesto, refusing to engage with that reality isn’t realism it’s willful blindness dressed up as objectivity.

@SheevTalks "the political nature of art to be an intrinsic and inseparable aspect" is absolutism, it is stating absolutely all art is inherently and inseparable I'm dejecting absolutism literally. Do yo not understand the word intrinsic or inseparable?

@SheevTalks Do you not understand that saying the nature of art being political is literally saying it is political in all aspects? I'm not saying "art isn't political", I'm saying "art is not inherently political" but that is not refusing to say some art is inherently political.

@SheevTalks you're equivocating. politics being intrinsic to art ≠ every line is partisan it means no artwork is separable from the social, economic and power conditions that shape its creation and meaning. calling some art “apolitical” is denial

@SheevTalks Hypothetical: If I decide to draw a picture of my cat. I have by my choice decided so. There is no politics/socioeconomic causality that has lead to this. Implying that everything is a direct causality of some socioeconomic hand of destiny is to deny the chaos of reality itself.

“That’s not how the dictionary defines politics” Yes it does!

Hint: "All art is political" doesn't mean "All art has a conscious partisan motivation". And yes whatever absurd, abstract game you're about to post and ask how it's political is also informed by the material realities of human interaction.

"Everything is political because i've framed everything to be political regardless of objective reality" You are a midwit of midwitts you ain't even on the bellcurve it doesn't fall off that low on the left side.

@AvgPantsWearer yeah everything can be framed to be political, since politics also implies movement of resources like money, also... "seeing things as they are" thats a phrase with wide implications man, its not contrary to politics at all

@AvgPantsWearer Framed being the key word, framing something as something is not same as it being the thing that it is or proves it being framed as. Which is contrary to the statement "everything is political". Saying politics now includes the movement of resources is you doing exactly that.

@AvgPantsWearer You've widened the scope of how you are framing the meaning of the word to mean things it does not mean. Which is not how definitions work and is just semantical subversion designed to move goalposts to a argument one cannot win. It's a tactic to shutdown discourse not discourse.

@AvgPantsWearer You can keep attempting to use that tactic but it just makes you look like a midwit who has no argument outside an opinion you do not understand and have borrowed from someone else who can actually argue the point. Which is why i called Pants Wearer a pants on head retard.

@AvgPantsWearer yeah you didnt understand anything i argued, i used framed because i meant analytical framework, you need that to actually study something seing "things as they are" is pretty meaningless, a non argument

@AvgPantsWearer To study something you must understand what it is in objective reality. What it is composite of is objective you must be as objective as possible so that your data and observations are as accurate as possible. You don't understand even the most basic rules of analysis.

Clip was believable until the Ant said "Yes, Sir" and not "Racist"

"All art is political" "Maybe but your politics are gay and lame"

>possum reviews

Unfortunately I am chad possum and I made you wojak ant and that is my argument.

Citing the dictionary regarding word use is an admission that you don’t understand language

This is retarded. Mainstream games have been political since forever COD would straight up blame Russia for war crimes committed by the US and parrot propaganda openly lmao Youre just triggered about people criticizing games you like and people doing cynical gay representation

This clip pretty much concedes that all art is political but it doesnt like that people use the term "political" because to him is a synonyme of "partisan", which is not what people mean at all.

the possum truly cooked with this

Get this fucking rat off my screen brah

Say no more *blocks you*

One thing this clip doesn't mention is that "Everything is political" is pedantically correct because literally every form of media features some form of economic politics, even the Croods and Minesweeper. A truly apolitical work is like trying to make a story with no characters

No that's just you expanding the definition of politics pedantically to a extent that is far beyond what anybody would commonly associate or use it in language making it useless. For which is a pointless act only meant to drag objective definitions into a subjective mire.

It's the logic as people going "How can you hate pronouns? They're a fundamental part of English"

Fair enough it's those kinda people but that doesn't change the fact that they are wrong in every literal sense and use of the word.

“I owned you chud, this YouTuber disagrees with you”

For anyone trying to be obtuse.

how would one view something without it being through an ideological lense the rat is stating thar his view is somehow objective

if you say that everything shouldnt be political, you are only begging your enemy to stop attacking what you value. you need to defend what you value and declare that it is worth being in art. they will attack beauty. you need to justify beauty. else, they will destroy beauty.

Defending what I value does not change what a thing is, it does not somehow make it political. Through the lens of the idealogue it is but that does not change it's objective traits in objective reality that isn't being skewed by political or ideological lens.

One of the many tactics that neo-marxists often use is dragging objectivity into subjectivity so they can control what is or isn't. If you succeed this to them by calling or making everything political they've won you can no longer win by the means of logic or objectivity.

there is such a thing as an ideal. an ideal can be objective or subjective. to attack or defend an ideal is a political act. their oughts dont care about your is. they will impose their oughts on artists and each artist's values will be trampled upon. we can defend that artist's values and at least prevent their imposition by positing that they ought not impose their values. if the only voice heard is a demonization of that artist's values, the tides will only shift towards our enemy's ought.

@VictusThraex If one were to be objective, then one would point out that all ideals are subjective, even this statement. There is a thing called being apolitical, or things being far too fantastical to even be any form of being a political message.

@VictusThraex That is all "you" imposing there is more to the curtains are just fucking blue. If the author states such, that is you making up what was never there. You putting more thought in then the creative. And speaking from experience, I don't give my shit that much thought.

@VictusThraex amended my argument below in the tweet quoted ignore the objective part, it was more of an aside that concepts can be objective or subjective im arguing that we shouldnt only be descriptive. we should posit an ideal of what is good and defend it

Based Possum Reviews

Not only does he make a 180 on his points midway through, it IS the literal definition of politics. This guy is lost in his hatred for being wrong.

The world is transpolitical. Everything is political and hence politics has no meaning anymore

my problem with his statement that politics don't encompass all human experience is that he is objectively wrong just cause you don't care about politics doesn't mean politics don't care about you, your ignorance towards an issue doesn't mean the issue don't exist

I once had a commie try to tell me the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand was actually a communist book, the author simply didn't know it.

An ever green clip to

Actually impossible to have a meaningful discussion with someone who posts these videos

Possum reviews is funny as hell when you don't have someone screaming in your ear he isn't

People who think that "All art is political" are the most miserable and stupid beings on Earth.

This is so stupid. The all art is political thing isnt to shit down criticism, it’s a retort to the refrain “keep politics out of films, games,”.

And when everything is made political! Nothing will be

I feel like this argument is always two sides talking past each other, and I'm tired of it. Many games have political elements, yes. When people say they don't want politics in their game, they're typically saying they don't want the modern day's hot topics forced into a game

Praise the grumpi possum of grump!

Bringing this one back too

guy who thinks any one thing does actually exist outside its own context
