This is desperate news for @poloccricket, the game of cricket in Scotland and the West but mostly for the members past and present of this great Club . We’ve been proud to call you our neighbours and rivals for over 140years.

Appalling news. When we relocated from Kirkstyle, through the support of the Union and it’s clubs, we were groundless for 3 yrs but kept things going. Hopefully similar plans are in motion. Logistically difficult but because it’s difficult doesn’t mean you don’t do it.

Dire news, a unique cricket ground in the West and famous club. The grounds fits in with its surroundings and works positively with the local community. Wondering whether any support can be gained via the council of government?

This is sad news . Hopefully a resolution can be found. A beautiful cricket ground and a functioning club with such history surely can't disappear because a football club with "new" money fancies their space. Totally immoral.

Some absolutely terrible news coming from Shawholm. A beautiful place to play cricket and some great battles between both sides during the years. A terrible loss for Scottish Cricket.

This is disgusting- I had a few happy years at Poloc and very privileged to captain this great club, it is a gem of a ground with the unique nature of the inbuilt golf course, an absolute disgrace that the landlord decide to do this. Hopefully a sensible resolution can be found

This is appalling news. Poloc were one of the founding fathers of the Western Union and for them to have to fold in this manner is quite intolerable. Shame on your landlords for treating you in such a disgraceful manner.

Sad news regarding the circumstances @poloccricket. Lovely place to play cricket and one of the most picturesque grounds in Scotland. You only realise the worth of it when it's about to get taken away @CricketScotland.

We are saddened to hear of the news coming from Poloc today. A fellow founding member of the western union, many great games have been contested between our 2 teams over the centuries. Solidarity with their members past and present.

Desperate news. If we can help in any way please reach out. Happy to host some friendlies if that’s of use. Best wishes to all at the club.

Solidarity with all at Poloc

Sorry to hear this terrible news from Poloc. Such a good place to play. Will be a sad loss for the Scottish game

Such sad news. Have always been such welcoming hosts. We stand with you @poloccricket. If there’s anything we can do to support you then get in touch. 🏏

Scandalous. An absolute disgrace.

Best of luck in finding a solution. As a club currently in the hopefully final stages of securing our own ground and the lease issues that go with it this makes us nervous. Will be watching what happens with great interest and as said above wishing you all the luck in the world.

This is very sad news indeed. All the best for the future.

So shocked by this, for so much of my childhood in the sixties I spent long summer’s days at beautiful Shawholm. A real haven in the city. Difficult to comprehend that it will be dissolved and no longer be. Such a great club now with a wide ethnic community, really sad!

@CricketScotland That is so sad, what a stunning venue it is. Never had the pleasure of playing there but walked the grounds many times. Hope the club finds a new home quickly.

Appalling, simply appalling.

What are the alternatives to dissolution of the club ?? Is another ground not an option????????? Just read the statement in relation to dissolution of the club @CricketScotland This can not be allowed to happen

@CricketScotland Dumfries Cricket Club are very sad to hear the news about Poloc Cricket Club and the ground at Shawholm. This is a big loss for cricket in Glasgow and the West.

Terrible news, but developers are always looking at these cricket grounds with envious eyes. Hopefully, the community will stick together and ensure Poloc’s survival, but Richard Young’s excellent book “As the Willow Vanishes” points out many cases of clubs disappearing!

Devastating news. My first proper game of cricket was there, playing for Bishopbriggs High in a school tournament. It'll always have a special place in my heart as a result....

There is no chance of growing the game in the west of Scotland if grounds are lost. In the last 2 years the southside of Glasgow has lost Auldhouse and now Shawholm. That's 44 players on a Saturday afternoon not playing cricket.

Very sad news for the Scottish cricket family and especially for Poloc.

Shame to be losing such a beautiful ground and home to our friends who play with the club

So sorry to hear this, a club and ground with such fantastic history and facilities. Hopefully a resolution can be found and you can continue.

@BBCScotlandNews

A real shame for @poloccricket and a loss to Pollok Park in general and West of Scotland Cricket. Another club disappears from the landscape after over 100 years @heraldscotland @ThatsSoVillage

I hope you can find a solution to at least remain operational in the short term. I attended a meeting at Langside tonight and there is appetite to help and offer solutions. I'm sure someone will be in touch over the next day or so. 🤞🏻

@CricketScotland Dear me - what a nightmare!

Incredibly sad news to read that the club will be dissolved, is there absolutely nowhere else to play and why such short notice on the end of the tenancy?

Sad news. I covered Poloc when I worked for The Glaswegian newspaper (itself now sadly defunct). Club was always very helpful (even when results on the pitch didn't go their way) and your community work was outstanding. Hopefully sense will prevail.

Disgraceful
