Fractals!

It's not a paradox. It's literally the good explanation on how limits work in mathematics.

"Trust me it’s 8 inches as long as the ruler is small enough"

This concept is the reason why our lungs have so much surface area.

Thats why a Metric System is more accurate and used globally

The map maker when I keep giving different measurements

the real tragedy here is using imperial

Reality grows longer the closer you look. Infinity is not somewhere else. It is in the details.

This is true but to a point. For example an infinite summation turns into a finite value. The value growing just means it hasn’t converged yet

My brain rn

So conceivably the coast line could be as long as you wanted it to be and any answer is correct

And this is why we teach calculus. This is a summation question. You can approximate the shape of the island as 2 formulas and then run an integration between those 2 curves. The more accurate your formula the better the estimate will be.

And this is what we call Integration!

This is not a paradox, it's just maths

Then use one of these

coastline paradox is just proof that math makes it up as it goes

This is literally the concept of integration in calculus

It crazy how people decide to live their lives

But then measuring too many details will not be accurate anymore

Not sure how that is considered a paradox. Makes complete and total sense.

You should check the meaning of paradox. This is not one.

@OrangStressID hmmm🤔

local islander discovers resolution scaling

eventually u will get to a size u can not get smaller Planck Length Value: ≈ 1.616 × 10⁻³⁵ meters (that's 0.00000000000000000000000000000000001616 m) Symbol: ℓₚ

Don't the waves make it difficult to measure with a ruler?

There is nothing paradoxical, here it is just basic physics/math... Very simple and understandable... not explanation required. Which idiot named it a Paradox?

Вы реально в америке такие отсталые или прикалываетесь?

The closest geometric shape to a rounded island is a circle so the total coast line should not exceed the circumference of a circle C=2πR (where R is from the center to the furthest point)

Nobody wants to know what it is in yardsticks. It's not useful information.

This useless to me 😂

Is "paradox" the right term?

its not a paradox - this is how we integrate functions

So Leibniz...

What if you use Microscope to zoom in ?🤣

Well, you know a lot about distances. Now all you've got to do is find out what the word "paradox" means.
