The Coen Bros pulled zero punches with Barton Fink. Barton Fink magnifies one artist’s struggle to write something meaningful in a world obsessed with money. But the Coens illuminate this struggle with an unhinged combination of horror & humor. This is a dark but brilliant film.

The Coen Brother had many influences for making "Barton Fink" (1991). Three of the major influences were "Repulsion" (1965) "Cul-de-sac" (1966) and "The Tenant" (1976), all directed by Roman Polanski. Ethan Coen said, "If you had to describe "Barton Fink" (1991) generically, you couldn’t do better—not that this is a genre— but it’s kind of a Polanski movie. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is the last time the Coen Brothers directed a film together. This is an anthology- meaning a collection of short stories rather than one story. I think there’s a lot to love in this entire project but more importantly, the Coens need to reunite ASAP.

Intolerable Cruelty might not be one of the best films from the Coen Brothers, but it’s underrated & absolutely hilarious. I think Catherine Zeta-Jones steals this entire film, but Clooney is also excellent. Clooney works so well with the Coens- they bring out Clooney’s best.
