I started using Vim 30 years ago and never could figure out how to exit. That was my point of decision.

Didn't know about C-F, but knew about q: which does the same thing, just from normal mode.

Well damn. I knew the promptlet existed just from plugins that call it up or mistypes that I didn't understand, but now I know what those mistypes were and I feel a bit silly. I guess I'm one of today's lucky 10,000!

I use q: to get into the command history and retain the vim navigation. You can use q/ similarly to navigate through the search history
