I never full appreciated my mom until my mid 20s. I was finally able to see how selfless she was! What used to annoy me about her actions ended up being her tactics to deflate arguments, create peace and harmony in the family. She took everyone’s crap and never complained

My mom told my dad everything and I stopped confiding in either of them because they would always challenge what I said or play devil's advocate rather than listening to their child. Once your child no longer feels safe or heard being honest with you you've failed as a parent.

I dunno. I never grew up thinking that my mom should be my bff. I preferred thinking of her as the CEO of our household who we were all slightly scared of but at the end of the day, got shit done and had our backs.

I would say even in discipline your child should feel loved.
