i think ppl need to just accept that this is a part of the game, it has never once been an issue

30 years later and over 1k hours on the game. Yes, it could use a quality of life change. Optional

i just like the game how it is, if it was gone i’d have a worse experience with the game 🤷‍♂️ i don’t think we’re deeping how jarring an immediate room switch in a fixed camera game is, the doors give time to readjust to the fact that your frame of reference is changing.

@JamesResEvil what? I skip the door animation every time and never one have a jarring feeling.

@JamesResEvil different strokes i suppose, i feel like it messes with the pace. plus i’m just generally against retrospectively editing art tbf.

Profilbild von James 😁
James 😁vor 6 Monaten

@JamesResEvil editing art? Its a quality of life feature so i dont have to wait 5 seconds everytime i open a door. If i wasnt allowed to skip it on pc i would never have played it for the first time and loved it. I think you are being a bit too serious with it.

Profilbild von Ave 🧟‍♀️
Ave 🧟‍♀️vor 6 Monaten

@JamesResEvil maybe, it’s just an attitude towards art that i don’t appreciate. it’s still editing the game and changing the experience in a pretty substantial way.

@JamesResEvil also not to be rude but if u really wouldn’t have played it for that reason then maybe you need more patience

« Yeah let’s remove the most iconic gimmick of the franchise »

Profilbild von james.
james.vor 6 Monaten

Woah. Who said anything about removing? A quality of life change that could be done with the same button to skip cutscenes. Optional. Don’t need to use it if you choose not too

Profilbild von james.
james.vor 6 Monaten

When you know these games. An OPTIONAL door skip wouldn’t be so bad, like the pc mods. My leon B was rusty because its been a minute since i did but i was still watching cutscenes. Because I’m doing a RE marathon. N64 version has a literal item randomiser. Why no complaints?

Those were necessary for the game to run on ps1 However I do agree newer ports of the game should have door skip and cutscene skip by default.

It’s funny because the DS RE1 lets you skip them

Deadly alliance is a very underrated port of the original. People need to get on that. Props for mention, like the n64 of re2 has an item randomiser 😭

@notjacob53 It's Deadly Silence. Deadly Alliance is Mortal Kombat 😑

Profilbild von james.

@notjacob53 Deadly silence thats the one. My bad, but it was a good port. Especially the double screen implementation.

Profilbild von Swedish Xeno

Why? It's just a few seconds.

Profilbild von james.
james.vor 6 Monaten

Because it just wastes time. Especially when you add it over the course of the games and how many doors you actually open. Just becomes cumbersome on repeat runs.

Profilbild von Swedish Xeno
Swedish Xenovor 6 Monaten

Never thought they were that bad. Just part of the wonderful experience. To each their own I guess.

Profilbild von james.

No one said its a bad experience. But on repeat runs, skip that shit

Well excuse me we didn’t have ssd back then , loading was a hassle back in the day

Profilbild von james.

You really think we need ssd’s to load re2 original on a ps5? I just played re2 remake, and the load times were faster than the saves

I recently found out that on my PSVITA, through Adrenaline (PSP emulator), I can speed up games with: Select+L1, and it's been a game changer to me. The doors never really stopped me from replaying 2 and 3, but hey. This is awesome. Since then, the vita is my go to for OG RE.

in the re1 remake they could actually not make the door load but they decided it kills the tension so they didnt end up removing it wish re1 remake has option to turn on door skip though

Profilbild von james.
james.vor 6 Monaten

Especially in the remaster. The game loads faster than it saves

that’s wild but yeah pc masterrace ig (they have door skips for every re i think)

Tik-Tok brain damage test. Can you have patience for literal seconds? Yes, I get that it’s an artifact of older gaming and load times, and a skip would be a fine addition, but three seconds is unbearable?

Profilbild von 7AM
7AMvor 6 Monaten

I mean it was due to technology limitations at the time. Areas had to load, and this is how they tried to hide loading screens.

Profilbild von james.
james.vor 6 Monaten

You could skip them in the GameCube version There was an item randomiser on the Nintendo 64 version

See, this is why Capcom needs to remake this, but they never will! Imagine if they remade this, or 3, or even 4, but Capcom is just dumb.

I doubt old consoles can speed up loading times

Profilbild von Gionne

This shouldn't be controversial. I've been playing since '96, they're an iconic part of the game but they were just covering for loading screens. I see no issue taking advantage of modern hardware. Making the first use of a door unskippable but subsequent ones skippable is fine.

Profilbild von Sabamika
Sabamikavor 6 Monaten

Y'all do know the doors weren't needed right? They were left in the series because the devs thought they brought tension to the game. And you'd have a easier time getting Hidetaka Miyazaki to stop making poison swamps in Souls games than getting a door skip button from Capcom.

Profilbild von Lucky ✨

Yupp totally agree totally. and for the people crying that its an iconic gimmick you can keep it on while we turn it off

I still wish for the ones seen in the classic PC versions of these games. I find that it keeps tradition alive & making practical solutions to forgo them pluses. Wish that feature was brought over in the HD remasters of 0 & REmake 1.

Call me old fashioned but I say that’s a core feature in the old games and I think they should stay.

Profilbild von Idk dude

Yeah it gets to the point where it’s no longer enjoyable. It’s the same with the resident evil remake. It’s why I want a modern remake so bad

thankfully the pc ports on gog lets you skip all door and stairs animations.

Profilbild von Neo Kaiser 0

Because they're loading screens. How are they any different from slowly squeezing through a gap loading screen?

Profilbild von Texas Tiger Lily
Texas Tiger Lilyvor 6 Monaten

The door animation is basically a loading screen so the next area can fully render. So it can be modded out if you're emulating it on modern hardware.

Profilbild von aestheticarepa 🫓
aestheticarepa 🫓vor 6 Monaten

That door was used to hide loading screens so at the time it was not possible You could use doors to skip both cutscenes and loading doors though

It's crazy how every other port of the game lets you skip them, but since PS5 uses emulation you can't do it.

HA! Come back when the load times suck just for you to grab a sandwich make a coffee and check the news and finally hear the creek noise when you come back like the OG OG verison

Profilbild von PaulDenton

The reason you can't skip it is because that is how the game loads the next level. The PS1 hardware can't keep up.
