Bitcoin is a decentralized p2p network. Nobody gets to define it for everyone else. Bitcoin Core isn’t Bitcoin it’s just one software implementation. Anyone can fork the code, build their own implementation, and call it the “reference implementation,” but that label means nothing unless people actually choose to run it. Users decide what software and policies they accept, as long as they stay within Bitcoin’s consensus rules. Core developers, Samson Mow, Andy, or anyone else can have their followers, but that gives them no special authority over Bitcoin. My node, my rules. Anyone who breaks consensus and tries to impose new rules hasn’t changed Bitcoin they’ve created a shitcoin. And I know you understand this. You’re way too smart not to. That’s why this doesn’t look like an honest mistake. Bitcoin is a permissionless, decentralized monetary protocol extremely difficult to change. That is its greatest protection and the price of decentralization. Now that SegWit and Taproot have unintentionally opened the door to spam, getting broad consensus to close that loophole is extremely difficult. Millions of people are involved, all with different interests and different ideas about how Bitcoin should be used. For now, the best thing we can do is run Bitcoin Knots with strong spam filters. That makes spam harder and more expensive to propagate across the network. Spam has already dropped significantly and is practically dead compared to its peak. In the meantime, we should keep working on a safer, better-designed BIP that the broader Bitcoin community could eventually support.

I’m going to slowly DCA out of BTC but keep my Blake coins. Blake has low probability of success so don’t bet the farm. BTC has an even lower probability of success. It’s dead man walking at this point so hodling it is just like hodling any other crypto, waiting for a pump and dump and asking if you feel lucky
