These cuties are called Chinchillas 🐭, they are small rodents from the Andes Mountains. They have soft fur, enjoy dust baths, and are herbivores. Pretty cool pets with a ton of energy!

I thought they were both real

“Hey, want another hit?” “Naw, I am good.”

Here are some interesting facts about chinchillas: • Chinchillas are native to the Andes Mountains in South America. They live at high elevations of up to 15,000 feet. • Chinchillas have some of the densest fur of any mammal, with as many as 100,000 hairs per square inch. Their fur helps keep them warm in the cold, high-altitude environment. • They have an extremely long digestive system due to the harsh, fibrous diet of grasses, roots and bark in their natural habitat. Their cecum, the part of their digestive tract where bacteria breaks down the grass, can be up to 3 feet long. • Chinchillas have very large ears for their body size. Their ears help dissipate heat and regulate their temperature. Their ears can rotate up to 300 degrees! • Chinchillas have extremely long claws for gripping branches and climbing. Their claws do not continually grow like other rodents so they do not require clipping. • Chinchillas communicate with over 20 different sounds from whistles and chirps to barks and screams. Each sound has a different meaning to convey emotions and alert others. • Chinchillas consume dust to act as an antacid in their stomachs. They roll and groom themselves in dust to absorb minerals and keep their fur clean and healthy.
