In a class that’ll be defined by its top end talent, the lead-ball handlers leave more questions asked then answered. Whoever answers the call could very well be the difference between a GM’s extension and his way out the door.

VJ Edgecombe quickly stamped himself as one of the premier high-end talents of this class. The athletic profile, competitive nature, and growing skillset left many wondering just how good he can be. His weaknesses however leave his detractors wondering if he’ll be able to ever truly harness that talent to the highest degree. One both sides of the fault line lies a good NBA player, but that difference between good to great will define his career.

Tre vs Kon has become my favorite debate of this draft cycle. Both present as fantastic wing prospects with immense upside as floor-spacers at the next level. The differences in their games highlight the fundamental differences many of us have as evaluators. The punchy 1-on-1 scorer vs the poised connective piece, do you value the upside or the perceived higher floor?

🎶CMB..yeah he can guard 1s and 3s…your eval is real tricky, can’t you see CMB🎶 Collin Murray-Boyles, my mother’s favorite prospect, has been draft twitters biggest debate for about a year now. To his believers this is Gen-Z Draymond and to his detractors his lack of shooting touch won’t allow him on the floor. While I don’t find the difference that extreme, whether CMB is Draymond or just kinda looks him will be the difference in hundreds of millions made throughout his career.

Decisions..decisions…decisions. In the past it was relatively easy to see who was going to declare and who would come back. The 5-Star kid who didn’t get the touches he thought? Oh he’s just built for the next level, he’ll look good in his workouts and be a first rounder still. The 3 year Big 10 veteran who found a niche as a pesky role player? Easy Late 1st to Early 2nd bet, he’s going to interview super well and all his coaches love him. Well in 2025 both of those players are in the transfer portal and see to make more money than they would’ve as a rookie. Oh and they both will still attend the combine and get feedback from NBA teams, and did I mention that they already have an agent?

Train your shooters on the same technology the top coaches use for player evaluation. #MakeMoreShots #WinMoreGames
