NFL owners will give up turf, but it's a bargaining chip. Why give it up for free?
Have you ever spoken with Kittle? There are door knobs smarter than him. Non contact football injuries are not caused by the field. Just watch soccer, guys are literally all over the pitch writhing in pain the whole game
Soccer players aren’t 350 pounds. A 350-pound OT setting a block creates a divot in a grass field. So does a 250-pound LB cutting to tackle a 230-pound RB or a 260-pound TE cutting his route short. OLs bashing into DLs and DLs spinning away chew up the turf.
The 2022-2025 data, basically accounting for the "newer" turf/hybrid fields getting installed - the injury rates are exactly the same as grass. Every yr there are multiple massive injuries on grass - but we dont talk about them. Mahomes, Micah Parsons, Tucker Kraft, Tyreek etc.
He’s gonna love the turf at the MCG 💪 it’s some of the best kept grass in the world 🇦🇺
Because if they get hurt they don’t get paid
Pretty simple. The jets owner is trash and doesn't care about winning so he's fine with a shit field. Because it saves him more money.

So grass at World Cup was a great thing, perfect time of year, great weather. Come NFL season when fall hits & the rain comes, fields will be soaked & playing on them tears up the turf, turning them to mud. Replacing the turf removes solid footing because it takes a while to set.
The real question is why the players and their union don’t take a firm stand. Grass or cancel the season. Owners would cave immediately.

These “journalists” who act like they just discovered the advantage of playing on grass. Either it’s stupidity or just pure incompetence

Well FIFA paid so the NFL should pay. It should not be a team choice.
If grass is so fucking important to players, then they need to pay 100% for installation and upkeep. They can afford it. The groundskeepers in those stadiums should be paid at least $1 million per season if that happens.
There are only 6 NFL stadiums that are directly owned by the respective team or their owners' parent corporations, out of the 30 active stadiums in the league. The vast majority of NFL stadiums (24 out of 30) are owned by local city, county, or state government authorities.

Too many massive concerts at these stadiums which would ruin the grass.
Turf is cheaper to maintain and most NFL owners are cheap. That’s basically it.
Few NFL teams own/control their stadiums beyond their use of it during the season. Grass is better for sports, but to be profitable, stadiums need to host lots of other events that grass doesn’t tolerate well. It’s a complicated business issue.
The city of Seattle covered the cost of grass at Lumen field. It will go to vote and taxpayers will not pass it
Grass fields would be awful for Football players. The fields would be trashed and too hard to maintain. Soccer players weigh 140-180….run everywhere. Football players - much larger and have heavy equipment. The O & D lines would trash the center of the field.
