Now that Eagle Academy Public Charter School campuses in D.C. are closing a few days before school starts, parents are scrambling to find new schools for their kids. One parent told me she called 10 schools, another parent told me she called 7 schools, and the schools they called are full. @7NewsDC

I honestly don’t understand how DC residents keep voting for the same people and government mindset generation after generation. This mom deserves better. DC kids deserve better.

DC charter board only in JANUARY started monitoring Eagle. That was months after Nevada was on Eagle's case out there--and after YEARS of fiscal mismanagement in DC, with the same person involved in both (Joe Smith). Ask who waited to act in DC.

Eagle parents should point the finger at the CEO who made more $$ than the Mayor! Make it make sense? Go find this guy and ask him to show you the $$$! This is why the school is closed. These non-profits are using us. The grass isn’t greener the $$$ is!

These kids just got screwed because DC government @councilofdc @charlesallen @MayorBowser are in the pockets of the teachers union - @rweingarten. It’s sick and sad and these people’s lives are now worse, future less bright.

I’m beyond upset ! My son had been in Eagle Academy since pre-k 3 & now is going to the 3rd grade .. this year was his graduation year he was so excited ! Just yesterday I recieved notice that Eagle is closing

This saddens me. My daughter attend Eagle Academy when they were in the blue castle by the Navy Yard. She was the last of the Originals to graduate when they moved to SE. Great school. Hopefully those parents will find other placements in time, the staff as well.

Ridiculous, this is why these charter schools need to go, put the money back into dcps.

Wow! Eagle is an excellent school my daughter graduated from there years ago, excellent teachers and staff and it was like family back then, this is heart breaking especially with short notice. This is not acceptable

Power hungry people making stupid decisions

In our quest for the best we lean to over saturated Charters in Ward 7&8 but aren't questioning motives or the books. Eagle closed because of mismanagement of funds. Now kids are left in the cold & the $$ is gone. Ward 3 has 1 Charter. Why? Let’s build up our DCPS anchor schools

Punish the kids so you can force them back into public schools!

Joe Smith was the CEO who resigned after “ allegedly” using money from Eagle Academy to start the Shepard School in Ohio under Eagle Charter Where he allegedly used money from Eagle Academy to help funded and pay salaries to employees there
