The denialists can keep trying, but the science will keep coming. I know it is scary, but we won't stop talking about it. As Ali Max Erturk said, this is not just an individual health issue – it is a societal challenge. #NeuroCovid #LongCovid

Breakdown of the paper: The study explores the potential role of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in the neurological complications of COVID-19. Researchers found that the spike protein can accumulate in the skull, meninges (the protective membranes around the brain), and brain of COVID-19 patients, even after the virus has been cleared. The study found that the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein was present in the skull marrow, meninges, and brain of COVID-19 patients, even in samples that tested negative for the virus. The spike protein was also detected in the skulls of people who had recovered from COVID-19 but died from other causes. Additionally, the researchers found elevated levels of biomarkers for neurodegeneration in the cerebrospinal fluid of long COVID patients. full paper:

@erturklab I’m confused about whether the spike protein itself could last for so long without being broken down, or whether it could be continuously produced by persistent virus. Is there any evidence as to which it is?

@erturklab Horrifying stuff. Is the pathogenesis that the skull/bones are attempting to sequester the spike in order to get it out of reinfection cycle? A viral reservoir of sorts? Greatest fail of modern medicine is ignoring antiviral treatments for post-viral conditions ala EBV et al.

@erturklab It's is why I am I pro anti-virals for acute infections. Plus a bunch of other weird stuff (fish-oil, metformin, melatonin, probiotics) have been shown to possibly limit risk of long-covid. Limit acute infection risks, and damage control for acute infections IMO.

@erturklab To improve the reader's mood: Don't worry, the liver ALSO got a whole lot. But no, its just another cold, we don't have to worry....all the scientists are evil, (I guess from grad school onward ? ) (Or, as UG already)...

@erturklab You realize that the primary function of the Covid Vaccines is to cause the body to produce Spike Protein, don't you? You know we give this to children, right?

@erturklab may I ask please - what does it do when it sits in our brain? Is it the leftovers from docking, part of the "vehicle", like the past Mars Rovers left there to rot?

@erturklab …it’s from the shot.
