I think this came up on reddit the other day. But I think the DMC Anime is better for people who are already fans of games, while the Netflix show has better broader appeal, and the clean slate makes it easier to reach a new audience.

There is one episode where he forgives a good demon because he loved a woman, later we can see him smiling at the photo of his client's marriage and even thought he didn't earn much while still in debt he was happy. I love those touches a lot.
