The Devil Wears Prada 2 has me down a sequels rabbit hole, thinking about sequels that were worth being made. Blade Runner 2049 comes to mind. I think the Golsing-Ford partnership and the Denis-Deakins partnership worked to perfection. This is a near-flawless film. Great sequel.

'The Devil Wears Prada 2' is darker than its predecessor, and it actually makes it better. That’s according to TIME's film critic Stephanie Zacharek. The landscape of magazines in particular is much rockier and more barren than it was in 2006, the year ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ a picture that mercilessly mocked Wintour and her ilk, was released. The Fugitive has been on my mind since Harrison Ford gave that incredible speech at the Actor’s Awards last Sunday night. God, I love this movie. I think Ford is the glue that takes this movie to another level, in addition to Tommy Lee Jones. Also, a great Chicago film.

In this scene from Blade Runner 2049, Ryan Gosling had a general guideline for expressing anger, but he improvised several gestures and shouts. Denis Villeneuve chose the take where his outburst remains contained, as if K were still trying to maintain control. Roger Deakins filmed with a handheld camera very close to Gosling’s face to capture every micro-reaction.

Dave Bautista’s opening scene in BLADE RUNNER 2049 (2017) is so good. Before the story has really begun, he gives the movie its soul. A performance so lived-in that this character feels like the protagonist of a different film we never got to see.

Harrison Ford has done press interviews for 50 years and almost never looks like he’s enjoying himself. Then a British TV host who hadn’t even seen his film made him laugh harder than anyone ever has on camera. In 2017, Ford and Ryan Gosling sat down on ITV’s This Morning to promote Blade Runner 2049. Interviewer Alison Hammond opened with a straight face: “Bleak. Dystopian. An absolute nightmare to be honest with you.” Both actors braced. Then she added, “that’s just my interviewing techniques.” Ford cracked. Gosling broke completely. Within a minute, Gosling had opened a miniature bottle of whisky and poured himself a glass. Hammond then admitted she’d never seen the original Blade Runner. She asked Gosling if he’d brought his knitting needles to set. He looked down at his sweater and said, “Yeah, this is what I did on set. I knitted this.” Ford tried to give a serious answer about the film. Hammond poured herself a drink. Ford grabbed Gosling’s glass and took a sip. The whole thing lasted four minutes. Almost none of it was about the film. Hammond left thinking she was going to be sacked. The clip passed 19 million views on YouTube. Ford walked up to her afterward and said she’d made his day. When they did a follow-up Zoom days later, he didn’t recognise her. He later requested her by name for his next press tour.

I think you simply have to watch Blade Runner with the prior knowledge that Deckard is a replicant. It makes the whole thing so much more cruel and sad. And if you’re rewatching, it’s like seeing a new film

Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar-winning performance in Joker is still what I consider to be a performance worthy of the award. I didn’t like the Joker sequel but it hasn’t negatively impacted my view of the original. Eddington has me going down a massive Phoenix rabbit hole.

On the topic of disturbing game quests, Red Dead Redemption 2 definitely had its fair share of quests that still creep me out me and the first one that comes to mind is the Man-made Mutant. I remember when I discovered this place for the first time thinking to myself that I found an enterable house just to find this horrifying man-made mutant.
