A good man will be called an asshole by women with no boundaries

The nice guy does everything for approval and calls it kindness. The good man does the right thing when nobody is watching and calls it Tuesday. I spent years confusing the two and wondering why people respected one and took advantage of the other

My brother showed me this book called No More Mr. Nice Guy and it is a banger. The moral of the story is that not everyone will like you. The problem with nice guy syndrome is that you want everyone to like you. At any given point 50% of the country hates the president so why would I expect a 100% success rate. Like Matthew McConaughey said in that interview, a good guy stands on his values. If you genuinely believe in what you stand for and feel it is right, that is how you go from being a nice guy to being a good guy.

This is tangential, but Judaism values being kind, not being nice. We are taught that being nice motivates being agreeable, but being kind motivates helping others. In common with your video snippet about the difference between a nice guy and a good man, nice is overrated.

What he said resonates. You can tell a nice guy may try to avoid stepping on people’s toes, almost appearing as a people pleaser. Understand being nice without knowing your worth makes your service of being nice worthless as you loose your worth in the eyes of who you are nice to

Matthew McConaughey is always on point. The man is right and I’ve seen weak women break because a good man told them no. When they can’t handle that type of mentality they fade away.

You can be a "good man" in this way and still act like a "nice guy" on most occasions. Women will take your niceness for weakness and go for the asshole instead.

A nice guy avoids friction. A good man can handle it. One is optimized to be agreeable. The other is optimized to be trustworthy.

i like this distinction. being easy to get along with is not the same as having a backbone.
