A mixture of rain, sleet and snow moving southeastwards this afternoon ☔ Snow mostly over the higher ground in Scotland and falling as sleet to lower levels in the north of England 🌨️ Cold with some sunnier spells in the south ⛅

Sleet and snow continues in north and northeast Scotland, this comes after much disruption from snow over the last few days Here is the latest snowdar 📡 Weather warnings are still in place for snow and ice so stay #WeatherAware ⚠️

Further showers for some this evening, these heavy in places and perhaps thundery at first. Hail, sleet and snow over northern hills and heavy snow to lower levels in northern Scotland later ⚠️ Turning cold and clear for many though with ice forming, especially in the north ❄️

Most places dry and cold this afternoon, with freezing fog patches persisting across Northern Ireland 🌫️ Wintry showers in the north and west, most frequent in the far north 🌨️ Thicker cloud with rain, sleet and snow arriving into southwest England and Wales ⚠️

More heavy rain to come in the south this afternoon, with flooding possible ⚠️ A mixture of rain, sleet and hill snow moving across Northern Ireland ☔ Drier in the north, but feeling chilly for all, especially in the wind 🌬️

Oh dear! This guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time near Evergreen Lake on Friday. Between the snow and ice on the lake, the deer was stuck.

18z ECMWF showing freezing rain area (pink) Saturday afternoon/night/Sunday. As you can see, Nashville is included in this area. Significant ice accretion is looking more possible for Nashville Saturday night. Snowfall totals for event in Nashville around 6 inches. Snow begins in Nashville after midnight Friday night and continues during the day Saturday, transitioning to freezing rain and sleet Saturday afternoon/night into Sunday morning before switching to all snow on Sunday. The blue is rain in the imagery (I would have chosen green). #TNwx #KYwx #ALwx

April showers have come a few days early! 🌦️ Sunny spells and blustery showers this afternoon with a cold and very gusty northwesterly wind 🌬️ Many of the showers will contain hail and sleet and could turn thundery in places, with snow over hills, especially in the north ⛈️❄️

BREAKING - New York City allowed snow to accumulate so severely that, nearly two weeks after the storm, jackhammers had to be brought in today to break up the ice and snow.

Remember what will exacerbate clean up efforts on the back side of this major snow-sleet-ice storm is the intense cold that comes in just behind it. Tuesday morning's record low in DC is 6°F which we have held onto since 1935 and we may very well break it. Bitter cold all week!
