Handwashing dishes uses far more water than a machine. The video says the machine uses 15 to 20 liters. Doing them by hand uses 34 to 102 liters. We use water for industrial production, city landscaping and parks, golf courses, farming crops, swimming pools, livestock, hospitals, etc. Don’t even get me started on reverse osmosis. Even with modern systems, 4 gallons are used to produce one gallon of purified water. It’s not dishwashers behind our per capita water consumption. It’s everything. Don’t get me wrong. Water conservation is a really good thing. If you want change it’s going to have to come from the major users.
