Believers will always do the required mental gymnastics in order to cling to that hope and mystery. Debunkers will never convince most believers despite the facts they bring, so they always lose.

Those people will either remain faithful to their UFO religion or eventually wake up after a varying duration of time and humiliation. Many are hopeless cases. The target audience of most debunkers are rational people.

They're like many people who are eager to believe and interested in what is by far the biggest question of our time, "are we alone". But they're also more careful than people like Burchett and Luna bc they hold actual power and aren't as subjected to the whims of the latest political fads. There was an interview done with Mike Rounds where Coulthart straight up him why he and Schumer included the language that they did in that bill that mentions "Non Human Intelligence" and he said it wasn't an acknowledgement of anything but rather a blanket way to cover anything IF there's anything actually there. It's funny he said that too bc just about every UFO grifter with a podcast, show or doc tried to use that bill as a suggestion to say "See, there's something there!". So they aren't saying it's a suggestion there is something there but clearly they're intrigued enough to include it. And that would make sense given the increase in media coverage and the level of lobbying that's being done by the same group of people who keep popping up over and over again in UFO news and media. You have people like Tim Burchett and Eric Burlison giving shout outs to Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp in official hearings. You have people like Christopher Mellon, Lue Elizondo. and Avi Loeb giving speeches in hearings. We had hearings with David Grusch, Tim Gallaudet and others. Those people aren't just appearing in those public hearings, they're also meeting with them behind closed doors and exerting a level of influence on them through lobbying efforts. The language in that bill where it has the "Nonhuman intelligence is defined as being...", was included bc those same guys pushed to include it and convinced them it would or could yield some results. So when it comes to Schumer and Rounds, they are clearly eager to believe like many of us, but so far nothing has convinced them or been actionable enough to warrant much more than they've already said and done regarding the subject. Many members of Congress both in the Senate and House were like really intrigued by all this stuff when Grusch gave his testimony, but that all mostly died down soon after bc he either didn't actually give them any of the valuable information he said he would or they looked into more and realized he was full of shit.
