I had a family member who worked for a vending machine restocking company….they operate on some razor thin margins often times. Stealing from them can mean the difference between being able to restock the machine or not….I suggest not trying to steal from them.

From someone with 28 years in the business, that hasn't worked since the 1980s. The first deterrent was any pull back tension would drop teeth and shred the bill, no credit. Since the mid 90s, it just rejects the bill with no credit.

The tape is applied to just the edge of the tail end of the bill - both sides. This leaves the paper exposed as normal. The only down side is, the tape, will pull away from the bill if you feed it too deep into the machine or over extended uses. ...from what ive heard. 😉
