The J6 protestors spent 4 years in prison before being pardoned. The Christians who prayed peacefully at an abortion clinic were sentenced to 40 years using the FACE act and the Klan act. They were pardoned after two years. These protesters clearly violated the same laws as the Christians at the abortion clinic. They deserve to be locked up. I would think 40 years is harsh however that is the sentence those Christians received.

The capital is Federal property a church is private property. The 1st amendment protects rights to Protest and address grievances with the government peacefully, it also protects Freedom of religion and religious expression. That group infringed on peoples rights to practice their religious beliefs that is a constitutional rights violation. The freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can infringe on peoples freedom of religion and religious expression.

The funny thing here is that the whole "storming the capitol" is a far more proper way of protesting per the 1A. It directly "petitioned the government for a redress of grievances". Busting into a church during a service and terrorizing the attendees is not a protest.

Church is not a public space. Churches are protected under the Constitution from exactly what they did when they breached the sanctity of a private place of worship!
