🚨REACTION: The Philadelphia Eagles will host the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round next weekend. My initial thoughts on this matchup: When you look at the trenches, the Eagles have a big edge. Eagles OL > 49ers DL Eagles DL > 49ers OL The 49ers offense was exposed by the Seahawks defense last night. Seattle is long, athletic, fast and physical. The Eagles defense is as well. Since week 8, the Eagles are giving up around 14.5 PPG, which is first in the league. I worry about how the Niners can hold up in the trenches, in addition to them not being able to threaten the Eagles defense down the field. Defensively, the 49ers run defense is not good and they can’t get after the QB. That could serve as the perfect recipe the Eagles need to get the offense going. The Eagles should win: they have more talent, they’re at home, and have the rest advantage but I think this game will be a dogfight.

If the Philadelphia Eagles want to save their season, Nick Sirianni needs to fire Kevin Patullo as offensive coordinator. Patullo isn't fully to blame. Players haven't played well, they haven't executed and they've committed dumb penalties. But right now, it looks like there's no belief from the players that what they're doing on offense will work. Switching up the play-caller could give the Eagles some juice and light a fire under a lifeless unit. Yes, the offense is Sirianni's, but Patullo lacks play-calling feel and play-calling rhythm. The offense is so disjointed and cluncky. QB's coach Scot Loeffler and pass game coordinator Parks Frazier are internal options the Eagles could roll with. #Eagles #FlyEaglesFly

After Carson Wentz went down, the #1 seeded Eagles did something that had never happened before: they opened as underdogs to a 6th seed Falcons who won the NFC the year before. They embraced it. The offense started slow, but got a massive break when Nick Foles pass bounced off a Falcons DB’s knee and into Torrey Smith’s hands, setting up a crucial end of half FG. From there, the defense took over. Dominant all game, it delivered one of the most iconic moments in Eagles history: the final goal line stand, with Jalen Mills locking up Julio Jones on 4th and goal. We ran the ball pretty good yesterday but there was more hay to be had. Gainwell has been a godsend for this team and offense. All he does is produce, but he missed one here on the first run play of the game. This is an example of how an OL can block something up as intended, and it still not get the yardage it should, due to timing and patience. It got better as the game went on. Importance of sticking with the run…especially in December/January. #HereWeGo

It's not going to get any better because the Niners don't have the personnel to improve it and George Kittle can only do so much once he returns. The OL play is killing the Niners offense. It's the reason they can't run the ball, why they're bad in the red zone and why the pass game is inconsistent.
