As the saying goes: ‘The early worm gets eaten first’

Being the early worm to avoid the early bird. I'm confused, is there a time stamp?

And the on time worm passed unnoticed! Lucky worm!

I prefer the version they had on an episode of #TheApprentice a few years ago, when one of the contestants said “The early word gets the birm”.
