'Scratch My Back' was released on this day in 2010, with a cover of David Bowie's 'Heroes' as the opening track. 'Songwriting is what drew me into music. The craft and the process of putting together a good song seemed both exciting and magical. I have also wanted to record some of my favourite songs for a long time. Rather than make a traditional covers record, I thought it would be much more fun to create a new type of project in which artists communicated with each other and swapped a song for a song, i.e. you do one of mine and I’ll do one of yours, hence the title - Scratch My Back - and I’ll scratch yours.' Heroes, the opening track of the album, performed here at the Arena di Verona, September 2010.

Throwback to 2009, right at the peak of the beef between Mallam Spicey and Terry G. Spicey dropped that diss track and everybody was loving it back then, even though he sampled the beat from Terry G’s “Free Madness.” Thinking about it now, it’s actually so funny 😅 How you go release a diss track on your “enemy” and still sample his entire beat plus copy the song style? Such a wild move. But I guess Terry G just decided to overlook it Did you vibe to this back then?
