These are some great tips and hacks. I've never heard about the snake in the hole but it makes complete sense. I have done the flap on the drain several times. We also used to do the PVC T patch a lot. Drill a hole and screw a valve on quick. The whole Teflon tape thing is obvious. I have not done it like that and don't have leaks. They're wrapping it around the whole thing anyways after he puts it in the threads only.
