Yup, I saw a report only 5% of recycling gets recycled. All a scam indeed. Think about those companies and the tax credits they get, think about the gov't $ they get. When the gov't stops handing out free money, they close up & start a new company to get on the gravy train again

Seems to me our whole waste management systems needs an overhaul. Also the creators of the plastics, they should be made to make thier product biodegrade or be fully recyclable. Bring back glass, paper and metal packaging which are recyclable, reusable and or biodegrades.

I was at the dump once, asked a worker there where I should put this particular 'recyclable' item, he says, it doesn't matter, it all ends up at the same place.

People would rather be horrified by this for a few hours, than take a good hard look at their own contribution. None of us are innocent but JFC people, some of us need to look at our shopping habits.

The temperature at which you burn plastic make a huge difference. We didn’t see huge smokestack or black smoke emanating from that place. Making energy through high temperature burning might be the best thing to do. I’m not sure how “toxic” that ash really is.

Most recycling is a scam. But you can turn some plastic into Useable Bio-Diesel.

We used to have a fantastic recycling program in this area. The recyclables were ACTUALLY recycled. Then town council said "upgrade to a system where people don't have to rinse and separate or we're giving the contract to this company from Toronto." Guess what happened?

Scam… govt run or financed or incentivized or contract out to crafty business entrepreneurs who know how to present a proposal to a friend in govt.

I met a woman who owned a recycling plant on the island - officials from all over canada came to see her awesome and sustainable progressive practices Then shut her down

Ah shit! I knew my local dump didn’t recycle as their machine broke and was too expensive to fix I was told by an insider so it all goes into the landfill but I truly thought other places, better places weren’t so cheap and maintained their machines and recycled their plastics.
