Harvey, you missed an important piece. The first shot heard was from Pretti’s gun. It misfired in the hands of the agent that disarmed Pretti. That sound is why the shooting officer fired. It’s sad and horrible. But you can do better in reporting this especially after seeing and hearing all of the video available.

you are part of the problem. The guy isn’t “helping” he physically pushes the federal agent & physically impedes them from doing their jobs. He then physically resists them when they’re detaining him. He went to a protest with a loaded weapon knowing he was going to physically impede federal agents if he saw fit. He didn’t follow the federal officers commands at any point. He is breaking the law on many levels. While physically resisting with the weapon & all the chaos, you have no clue what the officer sees or knows. You don’t know where his eyes are in those very few seconds. The officer who yelled “gun” then disarmed the man runs back & it looks like he accidentally misfired the weapon & that is the 1st shot that’s heard. The officer overtop that takes the shot hears them yell gun, hears a gun shot as the man is physically fitting with them & reaching that arm toward his holster. The officer probably sees whatever is in the man’s hand, bc there is something black there, & then he fires defensive shots in a split second. It’s a series of very misfortunate events, but events that don’t happen if the man isn’t there armed & physically impeding with federal agents. Yes, we have a right to free speech, we have a right to carry, & we have a right to be on the street, but those freedoms & rights don’t come without consequences when you use them in a way that is against the law. We have those laws so that we can live with order & peace & this situation is a perfect example of why.
