I always feel like this trend started with ‘Wild At Heart’ and then ‘Irreversible’.

There’s two types, self inflicted and bashing another’s head. We need a tree of life style branch system to categorize it.

'Wild At Heart' definitely counts in the bashing another's head category. I can't think of such a scene before it, but I am sure there is.

@menonfilmpod Does 1982 - or 1984, for that matter - come before 2018? Timothy Van Patten for the win.

@edgarwright Love that movie. Also Raging Bull is 1980.

@edgarwright (I did get the horror theme & was kinda kidding. But as a huge White Shadow fan, & a 3/4 movies a weekend kid in the '70s/'80s, I had to. Totally forgot about Raging Bull. I'd have clipped the Bill Murray/SCTV parody, so we're all better off for it.)

@edgarwright Yeah. He's awesome. Great director. His kids are also really talented.

Once upon a time in Hollywood has an incredible head smashing sequence with Brad Pitt, evil dead rise has a great one but it doesn’t really count bc it’s something smashed into their head not their head into something

That's such a good one. Also, Irreversible.

the evil dead rise scene literally had me thinking 'this is the most brutal head smash ive seen since irreversible lol'

I don't even remember and I saw that in the theater. We gotta make a giant super cut with all of them.

Cheating here but it's fun!

Dang. What movie is that?

Friday the 13th Part 3. In 3-D!

I thought so but it looked so shitty. I forgot.

I've watched it so many times in 2-D that I'm mostly numb to the obvious, terrible gags that are only there for the 3-D. And there's a lot.

I just remember the yoyo

Marcus just posted this as well and it was just a couple places below on my feed, I guess today's theme is smashing your face into shit? ☺️

Many are saying. It’s very cool. And original.

not unlike yourself 😲

Thank you. I’m an elevated podcaster.

I feel elevated by your podcasting ?

@CFunderburg You missed Scary Movie 6. 😆

@CFunderburg We need a list. I need all of them.

I like taking this clip and repeatedly tapping on the play bar so I can get way more head bashes in

Smile 2

Adding to the list.

😆😆👏👏

Ty

You missed Timothy Van Patten in Class of 1984 (1982).

Amazing.

I didn't realize until making this that a key part is another person reacting to it. Nobody head bashes alone...

Surrogate! Tell the audience how to feel about all this bashing.

Ari Aster is a big Scorsese fan so maybe it was Raging Bull inspired.

And then we going to get in Resident Evil movie the main characters headbutts one of the infected

This is just the beginning. It’s never stopping it consumes all of cinema.

🔝🔥🎦

@26mfhpod You have to go back to Ninja Scroll (1993) and then Irréversible (2002)

@26mfhpod Good picks. But I think the earliest is Raging Bull also.

@26mfhpod Haunted Universities 4 : The Concubine Villa (2026, Thamuya Thasananukulkij)

Beautiful,, mesmerizing

i would like to add Jubei v Gemma
