Is it true that there used to be (until shortly after the 1936 Olympics) a "no diving" rule in high jump, requiring athletes to go over the bar feet first or land on their feet?

@BillAckman What great footage. Wonder why they changed from feet landing to mats in the 70’s. Not to take away from any of the athletes but the feet landing certainly requires more skill.
