The council seat we have won in Hutton, Brentwood tonight from the Conservatives was one of their safest in the country. Kemi Badenoch and Alex Burghart will be wide awake tonight mulling their futures. We turned their 45% vote share just a year ago into OUR 45% vote share now, with the Cons seeing a 35% reduction in support. Labour? They lost so many votes that they are now irrelevant in this part of the south east. Just 13% of the vote. Essex is leading the political revolution (as it has history for) and this is just the beginning. Reform UK is the real deal and has huge support in our county as the common sense party that is enacting genuine change versus the same old uni-party approach of yesterday. Onwards. We’re just getting started.

Much of what the Conservative leader said was a retreading over familiar ground. The Conservative party was a ‘distressed asset’ when she inherited the leadership, she said, but is now getting a second hearing. Badenoch said, of the economy, that the country must cut spending before it cuts taxes, and that it is time that the government gets out of the way of business.
