I think Jack Nicholson & Leonardo DiCaprio in The Departed has really held the test of time. Nicholson - my absolute favorite actor - paved a path that DiCaprio is walking down in many regards. I will always savor their showdown with Martin Scorsese calling plays, all of which lead to Marty’s only Oscar win for Best Picture. This is as good as it gets.

So the only criterion on the films I’m willing to take risks on is that it be truthful, that it be honest about your own feelings and truthful to what you know to be the reality around you or the reality of the human condition of the characters.
