The Fifth Element dropped into theatres OTD in 1997. This ground-breaking visual treat features an all-star cast led by a blond Bruce Willis, a stunning Milla Jovovich and a comically unhinged Gary Oldman. In 97, it was the most expensive movie produced outside of Hollywood.

Saw this on National Cinema Day in the UK when every ticket was a pound. A packed ODEON in Glasgow and no one knew what to expect from this film. Love Blade Runner but this was a wonderful counter: bright and joyful. At the end the audience stood and applauded. Felt like Cannes.
