Historically speaking, the last time a government agency described itself as being on 'The Final Mission,' it was either a Bruce Willis movie or a budget line about to hit zero. Bold of the Dept of Education to cast itself as Mario when the actual gameplay is just... hopping from filing cabinet to filing cabinet until you fall into a pit labeled 'block grants.' Also curious what Level 2 is — does Bowser turn out to be a state legislature?!

The reason for centralization is to decrease costs by increasing a single standard whether this is an education system or a system of government or a corporation, all the same purpose. There is a law of nature that the Department of Education inevitably suffered and that is a loss of quality commensuate with the increase in quantity of its reach. In other words it failed in its mission and was unlikely to ever reach it. However the mission remains the same, that a nation educate its citizens adequately and that is a question I have not hearded asked. What is an adequate education for a Citizen? It was previously set at the standard to enable workers? Is that the one we want to continue?
