𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧: The NFL told Texans Azeez Al-Shaair he would be banned from playing if he refused to remove the name of an 8-year-old Palestinian girl killed in Gaza from his eye black vs the Bengals. Al-Shaair started the game with “Wafaa Akila” written under his eyes. Akila and her father were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza earlier this month. Once an NFL official noticed the name, Al-Shaair was reportedly warned that he had to remove it immediately or he would not be permitted to continue playing. The warning came just one week after the NFL fined Al-Shaair $11,941 for wearing “Hind Rajab” on his eye black, honoring the 5-year-old Palestinian girl killed in Gaza in 2024. This also isn’t the first time Al-Shaair has clashed with the league over messages on his eye black. Last season, he wore “Stop the genocide” during a game and was fined. He later said the NFL warned him he would be pulled from another game if he wore the message again. The NFL prohibits unauthorized personal messages on players’ equipment regardless of the message. #NFL #Texans #AzeezAlShaair #Houston (Via The Athletic)
