The creators initially wanted Jean-Claude Van Damme as Johnny Cage but when that fell through, the character became an homage to him. Johnny Cage was born with several nods to Van Damme, including his signature split punch, which is reminiscent of a move Van Damme performed in his movies. Even the game's creators had fun, with co-creator Ed Boon lending his voice for the iconic "Get over here!" line Raidens' design pays homage to the character Lightning from the 1986 film "Big Trouble in Little China."

Well, There’s a reason why the Mortal Kombat story has been told in different forms. There have been ten fighting games plus upgrades that are part of its canon and a few side games (Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and the wonderful Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks are non-canon). As video games have advanced, so has the storytelling.

Brooooooo I can literally see the game in this video haha.. that Uppercut by Sonya Blade was OP af.

Kano falling off the stairs at the end make me laugh
