I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. No moment of humanity toward her own mother. All she cared about was herself. And even though none of this had anything to do with Yıldız, she still found a way to blame it on her. Instead of holding her father accountable, she went and made a deal with him to get rid of Yıldız. She literally made a deal with the devil just to hurt Yıldız one more time. And after all of that… you want me to feel sorry for her? You want me to call her a victim? I honestly cannot believe we are living on the same planet with people who see this and still say, “she’s the victim.” Not morally. Not logically. Not emotionally. One Friday, I was bringing Shabbat dinner to Holocaust survivors when I met Edith. Edith is a 98 year old survivor from Austria. She lost every single member of her family. Edith's family made the unimaginable decision to give her away to another family that was able to flee. She told me about the last time she saw her father as he put her on a train and collapsed. She never saw her family again. When she got to the UK, the family that said they would care for her abandoned her. She grew up completely alone. But she figured it out. She wound up having a successful career, finding a great husband, and moving to America. At the end of our conversation, she goes back to work and we make a date to meet for ice cream.

This is a difficult one for me to write. It will also be the only one I make about this. It was Leah’s funeral today as you all know. We will all miss her so tremendously. I have seen so much love over this last week for the kind, caring and funny woman she was. But today she is finally rested at peace. We all know she was a sort of a kindred spirit. She could fight like a warrior princess, then just be like your best mate when you needed it. She could calm a situation so quickly. She believed in higher spirits, nature, art, music and family. She also valued all of our friendships, very deeply. Leah taught connections through music and her art. I said it then and say it again now, she brought me so much closer to faith. And from the messages and replies I have had, I know she did for many of you too. I know her family are so busy and distraught, but they are also aware of what is happening on here. Thank you to her family and friends, who allowed me to be a conduit for what they wanted to be posted, shared and released. All with an important and delicate matter. I feel very privileged. I wish Leah well on her next journey - wherever she is. We are all heartbroken, but we will carry your memory well. Leah loved nature and music, so I feel it fitting to add these that I took two weeks’ ago and a song that we both loved. I think this is apt. That she died in our arms from a cheap shot by a Sangheili sniper made her death all the more tragic, and made it feel all the more real. They don't make stories like this anymore. This woman showed up to her own brother’s wedding in this pretty pink floral dress, excited to celebrate with family. But right after the ceremony one of the bridesmaids pulled her aside and said she had to change or leave because there was “too much white” in her dress. I know there’s a longstanding tradition that guests should avoid wearing white to weddings out of respect for the bride, and maybe picking a dress with zero white would have been the safest move. That being said, this is clearly a soft pink floral dress. It doesn’t come across as bridal at all. I’m curious… do you think this dress was too white to wear to a wedding? And I can’t help wondering how her brother and the rest of the family felt about her being asked to leave on such a joyful day. In the end, she chose the high road — she left peacefully and even took some flowers with her on the way out 😭

This woman purchased a window seat on an airplane months in advance, and she did so because she sometimes gets Air sick and looking out the window helps with that. A family comes to sit on the other side of the aisle from her.. A mom and dad and small baby girl . The baby starts crying as she wants the window seat. The father asks this passenger. Would she mind getting up? She explains. I don’t want to do that because I do get Air sick and I specifically purchased the seat for that reason.. She held her ground and did not give up her seat. Of course the family was aggravated and giving her dirty looks, and had some things to say about her as they were leaving the plane.. My question is do you think she was right to hold her ground? I do I think it’s very insensitive of parents to put out other people because their child is not well behaved.

"The main thing I want to do is work with my mom so that we don't have to have those Christmas dinners anymore. Just have a job with her and you can order her around."
