GATE from my youth(80's) was the Gifted And Talented Education program. I remember some weird testing, and teachers trying to develop some pretty unconventional skills from the students. I had forgotten all about it until you posted this.

I remember this. I used to get pulled out of class to do this test.

I remember the hearing and vision tests, and the drinks. And my recurring dream was standing on the top step of the monkey bars and literally flying. As long as I can remember I had the dream of flying, before I ever flew.

I think when I was in junior high or maybe early highschool when they stopped calling it Gifted and Talented and started calling it Enrichment. There was like 7 of us in the group and all I remember doing in there was playing Oregon Trail lol

I was in AG/GATE program(born 1980) I had an IQ test score a 140 teacher accused me of cheating(🤷🏻‍♂️) they sent me to the local GATE Headquarters for a retest scored 145. That put me in AG classes, they’d pull me out of class for testing frequently. I remember some but feels >

I was in gifted all throughout elementary and middle school but I don’t remember the tests that qualified me. I just remember being separated from my classmates with a few other kids and going on special field trips.

In the 80’s, it wasn’t a pink drink. It was a little pink pill. And we had to chew it. And it tasted like they wanted it to be bubblegum. But it wasn’t.
