This is a very good take - my assumption is that since stablecoins clearly work, all this has effectively been is a pivot away from trying to reinvent the wheel and towards using stables for most of the purposes of a CBDC. In particular, freezing and censorship. Why I'm a bit more relaxed about this is because their use is unlikely to be mandated and the competition between issuers. And also because I don't myself use them...

I don’t understand how they intend to send stablecoins globally and let people use peer to peer wallets. I imagine that will be banned almost immediately and everyone will have to kyc to transfer between each other. Identity partnerships will be made internationally. Terrifying.
