The 21 cm Kanone 12 railway gun packed an incredible reach during WWII. German engineers at Krupp built just two of these monsters between 1938 and 1940, each stretching over 135 feet (41.3 m) long with a barrel more than 109 feet (33.3 m). They fired 237-pound (107.5 kg) high-explosive shells up to 71 miles (115 km) at muzzle velocities around 5,000 feet per second (1,500 m/s). Deployed along the English Channel coast, they lobbed shells toward southern England from occupied France as part of Artillery Battery 701, though the battery fired only around 83 rounds total across the war. The massive pieces weighed roughly 333 short tons (302 tonnes) in action and needed special rail setups for aiming. A engineering beast that saw very limited impact. 🫡

German AfD Leader Alice Weidel: What does the German state do with Chinese cars? It subsidizes cars from China. That is what the German state does. And at the same time, it disadvantages German cars with combustion engines. It disadvantages our own domestic technology. People want to drive a good combustion-engine car. They demand it. The Chinese do too — you just mentioned that. I lived in China for many years. Back then, there were German cars everywhere.

How did the police find the shell when the kids did not reload the rifle. My understanding is that if a bolt action rifle is fired and not reloaded the shell stays in the gun.

🇷🇺 Russian programmable munitions utilize a laser beam for fuze programming, sending detonation times directly to the projectile — designed specifically to counter drones and infantry in cover Since this approach does not require modifying the gun, the system could be cheaper than inductive solutions like those developed by German Rheinmetall 🇩🇪

Absolutely correct. If you remember the Kantbot meme, as soon as he mentioned 'German' Idealism, some idiot chimed in talking about WW2 and NatSoc. Most Americans have a hard time understanding that German history is much more than just 1933-1945.
