The government is proposing the biggest changes in 20 years to dentist contracts in England. Shiv Pabary from the British Dental Association says he does not think the changes will ease access to NHS dentistry until the 'chronic underfunding' is addressed.

I asked what the Govt's ambition is for access to NHS dentistry. Sadly, the Minister did not answer my question. Of course, we need dental contract reform & training places. But if we are serious about NHS dentistry being accessible to everyone, the Govt's ambition has got to be much greater.

I continue to make the case against the privatisation of dentistry in England. Dental practices in Bristol are now removing their existing NHS patients, as well as not taking on any new ones. The Government suggests it’s a local issue. I wonder what BDA thinks about that?

Instead of listening to people in Mid Bedfordshire, the Conservatives are laughing at them. Patients are unable to access an NHS dentist with appalling consequences. Labour will provide 700,000 extra appointments every year, so NHS dentistry is there for all who need it.
