Amnesty NOW! Since I was elected, I have advocated for real solutions for the millions of undocumented immigrants, mainly from Mexico, who are law-abiding. These undocumented immigrants are functionally and socially American—deeply integrated into the cultural and economic fabric of our nation! Love it or hate it, undocumented individuals are here to stay. While we may be upset that Biden/Harris permitted millions of asylum seekers from South America to enter with legal protective status, leapfrogging longtime immigrants, they are not what this is about. This is about the millions of undocumented immigrants who have been here almost my entire life, who are as American as I am, except for a piece of paper that makes them legal residents. Stop targeting the decent, hardworking undocumented immigrants. They are owed the same opportunities that this country offered so many so many years ago. AMNESTY NOW!

Therefore — to make good on his promise of “mass deportation” — Trump has no choice but to scoop up absolutely harmless individuals (like peaceful, hard-working day laborers, hotel workers and farm workers, who are no threat to anyone). His ICE agents have even snatched away NANNIES in public parks who were caring for babies — traumatizing toddlers and making almost everyone in LA feel LESS safe. The core problem is that Trump made two promises that don’t go together: to focus mainly on expelling violent immigrants AND to deport millions and millions of immigrants. The truth is: there are NOT millions and millions of “violent” immigrants. To the accounts on X which publicize every crime that an undocumented immigrant commits: I could do the same thing for Christians, or White Men, or MAGA Supporters, or Republicans. That doesn’t mean they are the problem though. In fact according to data from Texas, when it comes to undocumented immigrants it’s the EXACT OPPOSITE. They are between 2-5X LESS Likely to commit Violent crime, Property crime and Drug crime. Would that mean that Undocumented immigrants are making us MORE SAFE on average per capita? It would seem so... For the record I am not at all saying we don't have a problem with immigration. We do, but please stop spreading false narratives that label groups of people as being bad when on average they are not.

That talking point is based on studies that use extrapolations to estimate totals. They avoid looking at the actual demographics of state and federal prisons because the data does not support the narrative they want to push. In 2018 the Department of Homeland Security released a study that showed 1 in 5 inmates in the federal prison system were illegal immigrants. The study also showed that illegal immigrants in Arizona were twice as likely to commit crimes (not including the crime of coming here illegally) than American citizens. It's very strange that our elected officials like to push narratives that disparage their own people.

More undocumented immigrants seem to actually decrease crime rates. So when Trump tries to fear-monger you to be afraid of immigrants, he's gaslighting you.
