This week, Ron DeSantis announced a clear and concise process for "turnaround schools". These changes will ensure no student is trapped at a failing school in Florida. A new charter school must give preference to kids in the previous school zone and must serve the same grade levels as the previous school. Governor DeSantis: "We do believe in Florida that everybody can succeed. I don't care if you're rich. I don't care if you're poor. I don't care if you're black. I don't care if you're white. You can succeed. But it's our responsibility to provide the tools necessary for success. And that means if a school's failing, we have to act." Florida puts the best interests of kids first. That's why we are & will continue to be the education state. ✅

It can and is arguably designed to confuse children who are still trying to understand the basics of the world. This isn’t love. It’s not tolerance. It’s pushing adult identity politics onto kids who aren’t old enough to process it. This has no place in an elementary school.

It's not important that your partner is an identical copy of you. It's important that they're not, that they bring something else to the table that you don't have. Now, in the context of entrepreneurship, because that's what I'm associated with, you need to find somebody that's willing to put up with the fact that you're just never there. I mean, that's very difficult because if you're running a business and you can't have a balanced life when you're an entrepreneur. It's really about finding that person that understands what you're about, that you're going down that journey and that you're not gonna stop doing it.

Democratic socialist Aber Kawas could become the first Palestinian American elected to statewide office in New York if she wins her race for State Senate in November. She just won the Democratic primary in her Queens district. Kawas says support for Palestine is becoming an important litmus test in progressive politics: "What we are seeing right now is a redefinition of what people want to define as progressive politics, and that Palestine needs to be part of that fold. Having an antiwar platform needs to be part of that. "If you are saying 'I want to deliver affordability,' if you're saying you're against ICE, then people will only see that as consistent in your politics if you're also saying that you're against a genocide in Palestine. So, in many ways we are transforming the Democratic party and also the progressive voice in the Democratic party to make sure that it includes speaking out about Palestine."
