The barrel has to rotate. If your grip is too tight, it never releases and the body just drags it through. Create the pivot, let the barrel whip, and control the finish without killing the speed. Slow hands, fast barrel. DM “HITTING” for real coaching. #baseball #hitting

What does a rifle using subsonic ammo sound like? What type of muzzle flash can you expect? Is it so quiet you can't hear it? Here's a video I shot over a year ago when people were saying there was "muzzle flash" from the AGR building in Butler. Spoiler Alert: While at the time I could not definitively say what it was (it was later confirmed as a reflection of headlights from a police cruiser), I knew immediately, it was NOT muzzle flash. This is .223 with a very short barrel which is the most likely to produce muzzle flash. 300BLK or 8.6BLK or just about any other caliber will be slightly quieter and produce even less muzzle flash. Takeaway: If you don't see muzzle flash from this, you won't see muzzle flash from any other rifle that is suppressed and using subsonic ammo.

Kenji, the baby Mooseweiler, is learning to be comfortable with a muzzle. He isn't aggressive or likely to bite someone, so why do we do this? Emergency preparedness. If he's ever seriously injured the vet clinic will likely muzzle him as soon as they take him into the back. Even the gentlest of dogs with the best temperaments might become fearful and bite if they are in pain and someone tries to exam their injury. Especially if it's a stranger or they already have negative feelings about vet clinics. Even something as straightforward as a torn nail can be painful enough that a muzzle is used. Putting the muzzle on allows the veterinary team to quickly and safely examine the dog, perform first aid, or start an IV for sedation if needed. If a dog has never worn a muzzle, it can add to the stress and fear they are already experiencing from being restrained and examined while being in pain, especially if they try to resist having it put on. It's much easier on the dog and the veterinary team if the dog is comfortable with wearing a muzzle. If the dog has had a lot of positive conditioning with the muzzle it can actually help calm them as it's something familiar with good emotions attached. Anytime I can help my dogs avoid unnecessary stress, I'll do it. Muzzle training is one way and it helps ensure we're prepared for emergencies. Often when someone sees a dog wearing a muzzle, they assume the dog is aggressive. That's often not the case. It could simply be wearing it during training to get comfortable with it or it might be a dog that eats things off the ground. It could also be a responsible owner of a fearful dog that might snap if an unleashed dog rudely runs up. A muzzle doesn't mean a dog is bad. The Problem w/ extension drills !!! Too many hitters try to “muscle” the swing. They squeeze the bat, fight the barrel, and kill all the natural whip that creates real power. The best hitters don’t force the barrel — they release it. Loose hands allow the barrel to move freely and naturally through the zone. It doesn’t mean lazy or sloppy. It means relaxed enough to let your body’s sequence — not tension — deliver the barrel. Think: smooth → quick → explosive. When your hands are loose, your forearms and wrists stay live. I don’t think I’ve witnessed any player get more hits in the 100’s of games I’ve watched over the last 5 years than East Rockingham HS (2026) OF Colin Root (Colin Root) and it’s not hard to find evidence. A ton of XBHs and a ton of hits with RISP. Kid is an absolute barrel factory. Calm demeanor, slow pulse, barrel stays in the zone a long time. Can also run it up to 83-84 mph on the bump. PBR 🔗: Prep Baseball Virginia/DC #uncommitted
