The foreign student to OPT to H-1B pipeline is alive and well, and the $100K fee doesn’t even apply to those workers. Just ask any American tech worker. The policy incentivizes hiring U.S. talent, and greatly reduces the risk of companies exploiting H-1B visas to undercut domestic wages. It also discourages frivolous visa applications, ensuring only high-value talent is sponsored. The fee, applied to the 85,000 annual H-1B visas, could generate billions in revenue for the United States. The policy goes into immediate effect via his executive order.
