The Hangover (2009) probably goes down as an untouchable comedy classic if it never gets a sequel. The first film catches lightning in a bottle. The next two spend years trying to catch the same bolt again.

Probably the greatest cartoon ever made in my book. This sequel tried hard but only proved the original was captured lightning in a bottle!

David Fincher, Edward Norton & Brad Pitt caught lightning in a bottle with Fight Club back in 1999. The film was never supposed to be this big - it was never supposed to catch on to the point where it became a cult classic. I love the risks these three took in this film & the risks they continue to took in the 25+ years since this film released, whether together or apart. Norton & Pitt continue to make reliable work - waiting for Fincher to join them.

One interesting tidbit I found from this conversation which revolves around the classic Kushi is how an actor can change the total scene when it comes to comedy For example, the comedy in the scene from First Day First Show didn’t work but if an actor like Naveen Polishetty delivers the same line - it would work. It reflects how a rare potential Naveen is - he can make any comedy scene work. Not everyone is as gifted as him

BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS (2009) has one of the strangest titles in movie history. It sounds like a direct sequel, but Werner Herzog made an entirely separate film, and even he never wanted it to be called Bad Lieutenant in the first place.

“This country just turned 250 years old, which means you are standing in the first week of the next 250—the first page of the sequel. And the sequel doesn't get written by the people in the portraits. It never did. It gets written by whoever's young enough, crazy enough, and brave enough to pick up the pen. That's you.” Rob Schneider 🇺🇸 at CLS 2026

THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY (1980) builds an entire comedy around one inspired idea: a discarded Coca-Cola bottle becomes the first object to introduce jealousy into a community that had never known it.

I heard the crossing keeper closing the gates just now so thought I’d make an effort and walk up the lane a little way to catch the train. Unfortunately it was a down train which is never quite as spectacular as the up train. Never mind, maybe next time 🚂

“jump” of confessions was included in the first devil wears prada movie. madonna is literally dropping coadf 2 next year, it would be incredibly fitting if a song of it gets included in the sequel of the movie

I laughed so hard at this 😂 it gets better as it goes… The first one got taken down for ‘harmful speech’…I have no idea why. So I’m trying again :)

Tom Hanks stuck in a pickle jar on Jeopardy is UNHINGED 😂 "LET GO OF THE PICKLE!" Will Ferrell as Trebek trying to hold it together = comedy gold. Classic SNL never fails.

JENNIFER’S BODY (2009) got sold as a Megan Fox sex-symbol vehicle when the movie was actually a horror-comedy about female friendship, jealousy, and rage. The marketing chased one audience while the film was trying to speak to another.

Same paper. Same bottle. Different result. Students first laid a flat sheet across two desks. The paper sagged and the bottle dropped ~ classic weak bending stiffness. Then they accordion-folded it. Ridges turned a floppy sheet into a mini beam. The bottle stood. That’s physics: folding increases the second moment of area. More material sits farther from the centre, so the paper resists bending the way corrugated cardboard or an I-beam does. Shape beats thickness.
