The harmonizing is just phenomenal. Whatever happened to harmony and vocal arrangements like this in popular music? I miss it.

And without tone correction software to ruin it.

They grew up listening to classical music, jazz, hit songs from the 40’s/50’s. They also obviously had good choir teachers bc they could hold a tune and harmonize.

With autotune, they commoditize music. Those people on the top of the charts are not real. They are a manufactured bot. Pretty faces to be trained, groomed, and controlled.

It's still there. Musical styles have changed and harmony is not in the forefront like this folk-rock song by the Mamas & Papas

Harmonizing takes far too long to compose to make it financially viable. It's just like classical art. Classical art took far, far too long to paint to make it financially viable. So they switched to the quick & easy like impressionism, Cubism, etc.
