Amnesty International is deeply disappointed by this decision. One year ago today, the Government proscribed the direct action protest group Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. Since then, over 3,300 arrests have been made of people holding placards. Treating protest as terrorism leaves the door wide open for governments to suppress protest movements in the future, while clamping down on solidarity with Palestinians right now. We cannot challenge injustice and uphold our own rights if we cannot come together to protest. We cannot allow the government to take that right away.
