The housing crisis isn't just a metro problem. Communities across Greater Minnesota have been struggling for years. As governor, and with Ben Schierer as my lieutenant governor, we’ll fix it. We can support rural communities that want to build more homes and lower the cost of housing across the state.

Every housing unit we build lowers the cost of finding a place to live and returns agency to the middle class. In Congress, I’m a cosponsor of the Yes In My Backyard Act (YIMBY) bill, which will prioritize federal dollars for communities that reduce the red tape limiting housing construction. I’m also a champion of getting shop class back in junior high. We’ll fix our housing shortage by reducing red tape, building more housing units, and ensuring young people learn the skills they need to build homes right here in Southwest Washington.

Florida’s affordability crisis is not unsolvable. It just requires leaders willing to act. We can build more workforce and affordable housing, create a state catastrophic fund to lower homeowners insurance, and fight for fairness from investor-backed utilities.
