How can we go without breathing for 24 minutes but can’t without oxygen for 3 to 5 minutes ??

You can go without breathing for a long time because your body still has oxygen stored in your blood. 
Examples: free divers, people in cold water, or someone who took a deep breath before holding it. But if the brain gets zero oxygen like during choking, drowning or cardiac arrest it starts dying in 3-5 minutes.

7 days is not the max isolation before losing your mind. I have been months alone in the woods fully sane. However after around day 30 I did notice I once said “excuse me” to a tree that was blocking my path 🤪
